D3 Publisher and Yuke’s Unveil “FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL”, Cyborg JKs Wage War on a Black Company in Dystopian Future Japan

D3 Publisher, known for its offbeat, fanservice-filled Japanese titles like Matrix’s Omega Labyrinth and SHADE’s Bullet Girls has unveiled its latest project: FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL.

Launching October 23, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, the game delivers a chaotic blend of over-the-top action and the studio’s signature quirky flair, starring cyborg anime high school girls waging war against a towering corporate nightmare in a quest for revenge.

FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL is a futuristic, action-packed roguelite shooter bursting with bold cel-shaded anime visuals, irreverent humor, and an over-the-top dystopian setting. Players control two cyborg high school girls on a mission to take down a corrupt mega-corporation and avenge their slain parents.

Set in an alternate timeline in the year 2089 (Showa era 164), the dystopian “United States of Great Japan” is ruled by a merciless mega-corporation that relentlessly exploits its workforce. Now, they’re pushing boundaries even further, developing technology capable of reviving the dead as synthetic labor drones.

The story follows Ryoko Arahabaki (voiced by Hitomi Sekine) and Akemi Minamizabu (voiced by Konomi Inagaki), two JKs (joshi kose) high school girls transformed into cyborgs by the busty and seductive Dr. Hakase (voiced by Natsumi Takamori).

Together, they storm the 100-story skyscraper of MJ Corp to confront its president, Kyohei Fukoku (voiced by Takashi Matsuyama), and seek justice for Ryoko’s father, killed by the company’s ruthless actions. Their mission? Storm MJ ( Meternal Jobz) Corp’s monolithic 100-story tower and rip it apart from the inside out.

The game is being developed by YUKE’S Co., Ltd who might sound like a random no-name studio, but for anyone who grew up button-mashing on a PS2, they were the name in wrestling games.

From WWF SmackDown! in 2000 to WWE 2K19, they pumped out wrestling titles like a machine until eventually, the magic wore off and, much like Game Freak and Pokemon, they stopped evolving and regressed heavily in terms of quality.

Since moving away from the WWE license, Yuke’s has started to reinvent itself. They’ve worked on Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain in 2019 and World Brothers featuring voxel graphics in 2020, both spin-offs that were met with mixed to positive reception. Most recently, Yuke’s has been contracted by Arc System Works to develop Double Dragon Revive, which, like FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL, is set to release on October 23, 2025.

While Yuke’s isn’t the original developer behind the Earth Defense Force franchise, FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL carries a familiar energy, particularly in its chaotic, action-heavy gameplay and outlandish setting. That’s no coincidence, as the game’s producer, Nobuyuki Okajima, previously helmed EDF 4.1, 5, 6, Iron Rain, and World Brothers.

Unsurprisingly, FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL leans hard into its Japanese roots with an exaggerated sci-fi premise, eccentric tone, and, of course, stylishly designed anime heroines who are visually pleasing to gawk at.

FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL throws players into a roguelite grindhouse where you storm a mega-corp skyscraper stacked with procedurally generated floors, battling waves of zombified cyborg laborers lovingly dubbed the Working Dead and various boss enemies. Along the way, you’ll scavenge weapons, collect materials, and equip MODs to upgrade your mechanized schoolgirl death machine.

Your character’s arms become firearms, legs become high-speed propulsion, and you’ll have access to over 100 different gear types to mix, match, and mod. Naturally being a roguelite, every death isn’t the end, it’s an opportunity for growth.

Materials collected during each run carry over, letting you strengthen your Machine Girl with each retry. Experience, funds, and loot persist between runs, encouraging that addictive loop of “die, upgrade, repeat” as you climb higher through the hellish corporate tower.

Each death allows players to enhance their character using materials earned, growing stronger with every retry. You can restart from the first floor, retaining experience points, funds, and materials to boost both skills and character power.

A unique “livestream” feature lets you broadcast battles, with viewer reactions influencing character development via in-game streaming mechanics, earning cash for Professor Hakase’s wild body modifications. Upgrade, fight, and repeat until you reach the 100th floor to confront Kyohei Fukoku, the CEO of the sinister black company.

FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL launches October 23, 2025, on PC (Steam/Epic Games), PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
