Street Fighter 6 x SPY×FAMILY CODE: White Crossover is Disappointing Garbage

An awesome cinematic animation turns into horrific slop that bastardizes the Spy × Family franchise and spits in the face of fans.

It goes without saying that Capcom is one of the many large Japanese tyrants that I despise on merits alone, with the company firmly adhering to the western ideology of ESG (Environmental Social Governance), promoting and pushing diversity and woke ideology inside of their products, dumbing down feminine character design and seemingly throwing a tantrum over the concept of game modifications.

Capcom Demonizes Game Mods – Considers Them “Equal to Cheating”, Nude Mods “Violate Public Order”

Capcom’s latest ESG riddled software comes in the form of Street Fighter 6 which features immensely progressive undertones, character designs ladled with censorship and modern values, however Capcom has revealed a collaborative project to commemorate the launch of their fighting action game and the premiere of the film “SPY×FAMILY CODE: White” on December 22, 2023.

The collaboration event is scheduled to last until January 31.

To commemorate the collaboration we got to witness a pretty spectacular collaborative animation piece made by WIT Studio, however this collaboration in actuality has generally nothing to do with the Spy x Family franchise besides fill fans with false hope and a whole lot of ugly bullshit.

With a collaboration for a fighting game you would imagine it would include something akin to the introduction of new staple playable characters of the particular franchise or maybe some stylized alternative costumes that “replicate” their design for certain characters inside of Street Fighter 6, similarly to how the collab between Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Apex Legends works out.

But you’d be wrong with that assumption.

Honestly, if I were a paying consumer I’d drop real money to be able to play a game such as Street Fighter 6 as staple Spy X Family characters such as Lloyd, Yor or specifically the adorable Anya, honestly the ability to play as Anya inside of Street Fighter for shits and giggles would be well worth the purchase alone, there would be nothing more humiliating than suffering an online loss to somebody playing as a small child.

But no, this is what we’re getting instead.

Costumes for user created avatars, such as the hairstyle for both Lloyd and Yor being available for use in custom character creation, which is notorious for producing anything but authentic, realistic humanoid designs.

Nobody genuinely cares about the ability to create your own Spy X Family character inside the game, even with “presets” that look generally nothing like the characters of which they’re supposed to portray, to make it worth our while we want character additions or alternative costumes for specific characters, we want to play as Yor, not some horrifying pencil-head creature crossdressing as her.

So much hype with the amazing collaborative animation and all we’re getting is an avatar clothing set.

Well, that’s not exactly true, any and all players who log in during the collaboration period will receive special collaboration items such as photo frames, stamps, and titles as gifts, which barely mean a damn thing considering how they’re more or less trinkets.

The collaborative event, initially teased at the 2023 Anime Expo in July, has finally come to fruition nearly a year later. However, the offerings seem limited, with only trivial items and costume options for custom character designs in Street Fighter 6. Despite the exciting animated teaser featuring Yor battling Chun Li, there are no alternative costumes currently available, not even for Chun Li.

Capcom have already shown their hand at how little they care for Street Fighter 6 which extorts players for money for additional character DLC, with their previous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collaborative event would essentially cost upwards of $100 to unlock all costumes, or $15 per turtle.

Needless to say, the costume options with this collaboration between Street Fighter 6 and Spy X Family will be just as expensive, as Capcom continues to fail on all fronts in providing their player base with meaningful DLC additions outside of extorting existing players for a game with long spans between content drops for as much money as possible.
